The diligence and care that Scotts Eyecare provide me with is second to none. You were able to determine what was wrong with my eye quickly and refer me to the Duty ophthalmologist at West Suffolk, who confirmed your thoughts. As you had discovered, it was an old injury which had deteriorated and that the condition, if left untreated, would have led to at least partial sight loss. Now I will simply expect a cataract to develop in the left eye within a year as a result of this intervention – thank you again for your excellent advice.
Eye Examination:
Our Optometrist, Colin Turnbull will carry out a detailed assessment of your eye health, taking whatever time is necessary. He will discuss with you the findings of the assessment in an unhurried atmosphere, using easily understood terms and may suggest you would benefit from a more detailed eye scan.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT):
Colin has over five years’ experience in using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This technology allows him to look into your eyes in a much more detailed way than just a usual simple photograph. Early detection of Ocular Hypertension (OCH) can prevent Glaucoma, which, if caught early, can avoid future damage and maintain good eye health. Hidden problems can be found with the OCT scans, such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), fluid under the retina (Oedema) and Diabetes as well as excess cholesterol and retinal distortion.
Intuitive Colorimetry:
Do you have visual stress?
Visual stress (Meares-Irlen Syndrome) is a sensitivity to visual patterns, particularly stripes. In some people this condition can cause visual perception problems which interfere with reading.
Symptoms of visual stress:
- Movement of printed text
- Blurring of print
- Letters changing size or shape
- Patterns in the print (sometimes described as rivers or worms)
- Halos of colour surrounding letters or words
- Tiring easily whilst reading
- Headaches or visual discomfort
- Red, sore, watery eyes
These symptoms can often occur despite having normal vision. It has been reported that a modern day reliance on digital devices may also cause visual stress.
Adults and children who have Dyslexia or suffer from Migraine, MS, ME, Autism and Parkinson’s may benefit from the use of coloured filters placed over text, or coloured lenses worn as glasses. The reduction of visual stress occurs only when the colour is selected to suit the individual, therefore a specialist technology needs to be utilised to determine which lenses will help you. The selection of lenses is undertaken with the aid of the Intuitive Colorimeter, an instrument developed by Cerium Visual Technology, that we utilise at Scotts Eyecare.
If you are concerned by this, and suffer with any of the symptoms above, our Dispensing Optician, Sandra Ayra, who is fully trained in Colorimetry, will be pleased to explain the Colorimeter process and make an appointment for you in the practice.
Glasses:
Scotts Eyecare offer the full range of corrective lenses; single vision for distance or reading, bifocals, computer lenses, sport lenses, children’s lenses and sunglasses.
We are also experts in lenses which allow you to see all distances smoothly and clearly called progressive lenses or varifocals. Using these progressive lenses means that bothersome changes between reading and standard glasses are no longer necessary. All variations of spectacles can be equipped with varifocal lenses including sports glasses meaning whatever activity you’re engaged in you don’t have to do without smooth, visual comfort.
At Scotts Eyecare, we ask ourselves over and over again how glasses can be made more pleasant, lighter, easier and more comfortable to wear. That is why we advise our customers to choose Rodenstock lenses. The Rodenstock brand stands for the highest technological standards, producing products of outstanding quality. Choosing one of their products means that you benefit from a one of a kind visual experience, excellent wearing comfort married with a stylish aesthetic.
Contact Lenses:
Advice on the newest and best contact lenses, both for reading and distance can be given by our experienced Optometrist, Colin Turnbull, and our Senior Dispensing Optician, Sandra Arya.
A full eye health check and contact lens trial is available, followed by full instruction on how to put them in, remove them and look after them.
Our highly-trained staff are expert at fitting your new glasses perfectly, to give you the best comfort and vision.
The fit of your glasses may need readjusting from time to time and we will happily do so free of charge. When you buy your glasses you will receive a Rodenstock guarantee and service card. With this, you’re entitled to a two-year guarantee on your lenses with an additional one-year guarantee on all our premium lenses.
